Compatible phones and devices can recognize WiFi QR payloads and offer to join the encoded network automatically. Support varies by operating system, camera application, device manufacturer, and security configuration.

SECURITY NOTE

Treat the QR code like the WiFi password

For password-protected networks, the QR code contains the information required to connect. Anyone who can scan or decode the image may be able to recover the network name and password. Do not publish private-network QR codes where unauthorized users can access them.
