Start with simple, high-quality artwork
Use a square source image whenever possible.
Start with at least 512 × 512 pixels for raster images.
Avoid tiny text and fine details that disappear at favicon sizes.
Use transparent backgrounds when appropriate for your brand.
SECURITY
Uploaded images must be treated as untrusted files
File extensions and browser-provided MIME types are not proof of file contents. The image-processing API should independently validate file signatures, enforce image dimensions and decoded-size limits, and process SVG files without permitting scripts, external resources, entity expansion, or network access.
